Abstract
This study's aim is to analyse how a certain social practice is depicted within the context of a foreign culture. This paper examines how the xwedodah, the nextof- kin marriage of Sasanian Persia, is described by contemporary Greek and Latin authors, and if their interpretation is based on any actual knowledge of Persia or on their own tradition.Downloads
