El enclave "Parpalines" de la "Vita Sancti Aemiliani" : espacio rural y aristocracia en época visigoda
Abstract
In this paper is proposed to identify the archaeologic site of Parpalinas (Pipaona de Ocón, La Rioja) with the place Parpalines mentioned in Vita Aemiliani (by Braulius from Zaragoza) related to the exorcism that the eremite Aemilianus accomplished at the home of senator Honorius. The study connects critically the text of Braulius with the archaeological information of the site of the Parpalinas; as a result of that, the historical changes that take place in the rural areas of the Middle Ebro Valley during the VI century are better understood.Downloads
