Abstract
An important inscription of Lete mentions the death of the governor of the province of Macedonia, Sex. Pompey, grandfather of Pompey the Great, at the hands of the Scordiscii, and the reaction of their quaestor M. Annius. Examination of: the incursions of this Celtic people during the second half of the s. II B.C., the difficulty in the interpretation of the sources and the presence of Sex.
