Abstract

El arco de triunfo romano se convirtió desde Augusto en uno de los mejores soportes arquitectónicos en el que representar iconográficamente la nueva ideología imperial. Aunque en la Antigüedad Tardía y en el Altomedievo se vive una situación política y religiosa muy distinta, los valores que encerraba esta forma pervivieron y es posible encontrarlos en las manifestaciones artísticas de estos periodos.
