El liderazgo episcopal en las ciudades hispanas en el siglo V : León de Tarazona
Abstract
Against the troubled background Hispanic in the fifth century, the bishops adopted different approaches to address external and internal threats. For the Tarraconensis province, which, though he remained most of the century under roman control, experienced offense and chaos generated by the bagaudae group, the traditional historiography saw in the death of the bishop Leon in the church of Tarazona (449) a clear role as a "defensor civitatis". However, given the unfavorable economic situation and the shortage of military force by the bagaudia, from this article, we suggest the appointment of the prelate of Turiaso more as a "defensor domus ecclesiae" or as an economically privileged entity against which would run the "raid" bagauda.Downloads
