Resumen

Este ensayo sostiene que la banda de Möbius no es un artificio ornamental, sino la figura topológica más exacta para aprehender los procedimientos formales e ideológicos del Ulises de James Joyce. A partir de la teoría espacial y la topología, este artículo lee los incesantes desplazamientos de perspectiva de la novela, sus diseños episódicos recursivos y sus bruscas disyunciones tonales como signos de una superficie narrativa no orientable que pliega continuamente lo interior en lo exterior, el sujeto en el objeto, la historia en la forma. Mediante lecturas detenidas de “Proteo”, “Circe” y “Penélope”, con regresos selectivos a otros pasajes, el argumento aísla puntos de torsión en los que género, corporeidad y pertenencia nacional no se estabilizan, sino que permanecen anudados como giros irreversibles. La banda de Möbius funciona aquí como método más que como metáfora, forzando una relectura de los debates joyceanos sobre la dificultad, el realismo y el compromiso político, al mostrar que Ulises configura la desorientación epistémica de la modernidad no solo como tema, sino como geometría narrativa operativa. La topología se convierte así en práctica crítica: una manera de registrar cómo las propias superficies narrativas piensan.
