About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Cuadernos de Investigación Geográfica (Geographical Research Letters) is a scientific journal that publishes two issues per year. It includes papers on Physical Geography and other related environmental sciences (Hydrology, Ecology, Climatology). Interdisciplinary studies with Human Geography are also welcome. All papers are subject to full peer review.

Authors linked to other organizations are welcome.

Peer Review Process

All papers are sent for evaluation to two external experts on the topic.

Publication Frequency

This Journal is published twice a year.

Journal items are published as part of an issue with its own Table of Contents.

Open Access Policy

This journal guarantees open free access to the published information, based on the principle that free access to research improves the global exchange of knowledge.

Publisher copyright & self-archiving policies

The authors retain copyright of articles and authorize Cuadernos de Investigación Geográfica (Geographical Research Letters) the first publication. They are free to share and redistribute the article without obtaining permission from the publisher as long as they give appropriate credit to the editor and the journal.

Self-archiving is allowed too. In fact, it is recommendable to deposit a PDF version of the paper in academic and/or institutional repositories.

Journal History

Founded in 1980, Cuadernos de Investigación Geográfica = Geographical Reseach Letters is the continuation of Cuadernos de Investigación: Geografía e Historia, which was published for the first time in 1975 at the University College of La Rioja. CIG has been in publication uninterruptedly for more than 35 years. It is indexed in Scopus since 2009.
