Streamwater changes during storm events are investigated in a small evergreen-oak forested watershed in the Montseny mountains (NE Spain). Results from two storms of different intensities that took place under dry antecedent conditions are discussed in terms of ion sources and runoff mechanisms. Dilution effects were found for conductivity, pH, HC03, Ca2+, Na+ and Mg2+ while K+ and N03 usually increased with discharge, sometimes dramatically. Substantial and sustained in creases of S04 - and elin storm runoff were also observed. A principal component analysis helps in summarizing the data.Downloads
