Channel and floodplain dynamics of the river Ebro in the Alfaro area

In this paper the author studies the dynamic of meandering channels of the river Ebro (section Rincón de Soto-Castejón). Afier working with aerial photography from 1927 to 1986 the most dynamic points have been chosen and their evolution has been analysed by a detailed cartography of the channel and the jloodplain. We have observed a progressive deforestation of the gro ves and a parallel occupation of the riverside by human action, which is revealed by the increase of cultivated areas and the development of dam works.Downloads
