The Jaime Blanco’s case. The first political scandal of a democracy in Transition

This article tries to analyze the one baptized as the “Jaime Blanco case”, which was the first political scandal of the new democracy built during the Transition. The origin was the insults, attacks and arrest of the socialist deputy Jaime Blanco by the Armed Police. The events had an immediate repercussion, reflecting the disputes over the new political space, the reform of the police forces, the new regulations of the Cortes or the rights of the deputies in a democratic context. Through the press of the time and the diaries of sessions of what was the first debate of the new democracy, it is intended to know the development and meaning of those events.
