Abstract

The abbot Konarski wrote an ode honouring count Aranda when the great aragonian politician left the embassy in Warsaw and headed to Portugal, where he should command the troops which invaded the neighbour country in 1762. The triumphs which the count was expecting from the Polish piarist never took place, as the military campaign was a disaster. The ode was not a simple-mindedness of the Konarski, as it was hiding the intention of the supporters of the king Estanislao Augusto Poniatowski of strengthen ties with the Bourbon monarchies
