This article analyses the strength of Carlism in a mainly liberal city, as was Valencia between 1833 and 1840. To do this, we are taken on a biographical tour of the most distinguished Carlists in the city, to then study the importance of Carlism among the lower classes, using the individual cases that are known. By doing so we observe that, although the Carlist supporters were a minority in Valencia, they were still large in number.Downloads
