Abstract

This paper collects some of the main regulatory aspects of Muslim women’s lifes. In fact, it analyses what Coram says on women and it also examines other cultural issues like honour codes, the compulsory use of the veil, or the application of practices such as stoning or female genital mutilation, as all these contents have a strong influence on Muslim women’s lifes. The third part of this essay is related to the Islamic law on marriage, which includes polygyny or ‘marriage for pleasure’. The paper ends with some conclusions on the main situations of inequality which affect Muslim women
