Abstract

The episcopal capitalization of the cult of the saints is a well-known phenomenon during Late Antiquity.However, there were some conflicts during holy men’s lifetime. This paper purposes to analize principal cases in Visigothic Spain: sometimes holy man is faced up to authority (kings and bishops). In any case patronatus caelestis will end in large measure under control of leaderships. We are interested here in conflict during holy men’s lifetime as initial sptep in the process of capitalization
