Abstract

It is a research work into the cloth industry in La Rioja towards the industrial capitalism it studies in depth the case of La Rioja. La Rioja has turned out to be one of the most paradigmatic and richest region in the industrial process due also to its qualitative significance and quantitative importance in the cloth and wool subsector in the XVIII century.The history of cloth in La Riojahas three periods.The first one, between 1752 and 1792, corresponds with the phenomenon of the proto-industrialization.The second one, between 1830 and 1860, is concerned with the process of industrialization and the change in the cloth production system. The third one, in between that is to say, from the end of the XVIII century to the beginning of the XIX century, would be the desindustrialization process or the turning point in the old system of the cloth industry.
