La ganadería trashumante en La Rioja, 1752-1865 : una revisión bibliográfica y cuantitativa

Abstract

The intention of this article is to criticize the existing historiography and to give some data to quantify the economic importance of the trashumance in the middle of the XVIIIth century. Later the results are contrasted with the figures from the first livestock census in the liberal era, that of 1865.Finally there is a study of the scale of the crisis and the difficulties of adaptation of an extensive livestock-farming incompatible with the liberal agricultural agenda.
