Abstract

The author presents in this work a series of hardly known religious images preserved in La Rioja, carried out during the second half of the 18th. century, which were orders from eminent persons holding charges in the Central Administration to locations of scarce imparlance. It is demostrated that the plastic at that time under those circunstances is linked more to the baroque tradition of religions aspects than to the profane, historical or mythological aspects which tend to the neoclassicism. The artists are: Juan Pascual de Mena, in Torrecilla de Cameros; Joseph Salvador Carmona, in Ezcaray; Isidro Carnicero Leguina, in Gordejuela; José Ginés, in Gallinero de Cameros; Juan Adán y Andrea Casareggio, in Ajamil, and Santiago Rodríguez Castañedo, in Azofra.
