The approach to what is or could be music through the idea of the game shows that the similarity between music and game is more than it seems. On one hand we find in the history of music some authors treating the musical composition as a play, as pure combination of notes (Mersenne, Kircher) or arbitrary relationship between signs and notes (Guido Aretino). On the other hand is the idea of music as a game (with notes), similar to Wittgenstein’s “language-game” ("Sprachspiel"), also a genuine expression of human being that seeks in the music game and its realization as art object (Gadamer) a self-affirmation (Schiller) in which we recognize our strength of knowledge (Kant).Downloads
