Abstract

We analyze here the baroque paintings of the Fathers of the Church in the parishes of Mendiguren (Álava) and La Cerca (Burgos). They are part of two counter-reformer’s programs in the seventeenth century which exalt the Assumption and the Immaculate respectively. These works are copies of engravings by A. Sadeler II and J. F Greuter, after Pieter de Witte.
