Abstract

Sebastián de Portu was an architect who worked in La Rioja and Álava by the middle of the 18th century. His work, from which stand out their altarpieces, front of churches and other religious works as organ cases, reflects the transition from the final phase of the baroque art period to the beginnings of the rococo style. This article offers a sketch for his biography and a compilation of his artistic work, with some of the most significant characteristics of his style.
