Medieval elegy, a plaintive text by definition, looks at the praise as one of its gaudiest parts, so that it can be assimilated at a particular oratoria! kind, the epideictic. So, the poets abided by rhetorical rule of both the selection of their materials (inventio) and their distribution ("dispositio"). The praises that appear in lamentations pick up qualities of character, externa/ circunstances and physical attributes that are enumerated by canon, as well as the clichés established for that kind of discourse. Likewise, the poems structure consists basically of amplified narrative matter, essential part of epideictic text.Downloads
