Una figura relegada de la Ilustración : la marquesa de Fuerte Híjar y su "Elogio a la Reina" (1798)

Abstract

Among the many individuals of the Spanish Enlightenment still requiring further research, we find María Lorenza de los Ríos, Marchioness of Fuerte Híjar. This article studies her life and works, showing her important role in the “Junta de Damas” within the Sociedad Económica Matritense. This study also analyzes her two unpublished plays "La sabia indiscreta" and "El Eugenio", as well as the contents of her "Elogio de la Reina", including as a final appendix its complete text (not reedited since its first publication in 1798).
