Abstract

This article analyzes different textual strategies in the Ritual formulario e institución de curas (1631) by the father Juan Pérez de Bocanegra. We argue that the questionnaire has different textual mechanisms that aid to build, condense and repeat sins, which alters Andean beliefs and standardizes idolatry.

Daniel Astorga Poblete, Universidad Católica Silva Henriquez

Daniel Astorga Poblete es Licenciado en Letras con mención en Literatura y Lingüística Hispánicas por la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2006) y Ph.D. en Romance Studies por la Universidad de Duke (2015). Su campo de trabajo son los estudios prehispánicos y coloniales latinoamericanos, la literatura colonial, la espacialidad y territorialidad de las comunidades indígenas durante los siglos XVI y XVII, y los sermones escritos en lenguas indígenas. Sus investigaciones se han publicado en revistas de Estados Unidos, México y Chile. Ha sido becario Fulbright (2008-2012) e investigador postdoctoral en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (2016). Actualmente es nvestigador FONDECYT postdoctoral e investigador asociado del Romance Studies Department de la Universidad de Duke.
