In this paper we will study the impact of the commonly known as “Helen episode” of the second book of the Aeneid, of debated authenticity, on the printed editions of the poem in Spain during the period between 1500 and 1550. For this, we will first review the manuscript witnesses of the work from Antiquity and the Middle Ages to the 15th century as well as the reception that said passage has in them. Next, we will make an analysis of the textual variants that the passage presents in the Spanish editions and in other reference editions to finally extract our conclusions from these data.
