La complexité dimensionelle du chronotope de Bakhtine

Résumé

Cet article propose une réévaluation du chronotope de Bakhtine. Si l’approche générale de Bakhtine (qui promeut une réflexion sur l’assimilation par le récit d’une vision du monde) est pleinement reconnue, sa vision synthétique des relations complexes qui existent entre le chronotope, le genre littéraire et le récit individuel est mise en doute. Partant de la conception du chronotope comme expression de l’unité des textes romanesques, cet article privilégie l’étude de la complexité dimensionnelle qui peut exister dans tout récit littéraire. Cette méthodologie modifiée s’inspire de l'analyse propre de Bakhtine, qui suggère que trois dimensions du chronotope – verticale, horizontale et conventionnelle – peuvent apparaître de manières diverses dans le texte littéraire, tant sur le plan idéologique que poétique. Les brefs commentaires sur quelques récits classiques suggèrent que l’interaction dimensionnelle, appelée chronotopie, pourrait tendre vers un récit plus monologique (cohésif) ou plus dialogique (complexe).
