Social and emotional competencies are crucial for academic and social success. Although there are programmes that are conducted in schools to promote these competencies, not all the teachers are prepared to implement them. This project was conducted to promote social and emotional competencies in future teachers. A total of 322 participants were assigned to a control and an intervention group who filled in a pre-test and a post-test. Students in the intervention group received sessions related to their course and focused on competencies with an interactive methodology. Results showed that the intervention was effective in the intervention group who showed higher social and emotional competencies.
