The social and environmental challenges of the 21st century motivate education to adopt new emancipatory perspectives that promote a planetary citizenship that is critical and aware of these problems. However, in higher education there are not many pedagogical perspectives focused to this end. This article presents a teaching innovation project aimed at including the intersectional perspective and sustainability in an undergraduate course in Advertising and Public Relations. Through the presentation of the case and its evaluation by the students via survey and qualitative comments, the relevance of including this type of perspective in the university is presented here. Students show great interest in this type of content, which is often neglected throughout their time at university. Including structural perspectives, sensitive to sustainability and social justice are now more necessary than ever to make sense of challenges such as the climate crisis or the unequal distribution of power and resources in society.
